Patrese’s Earth Dream: Former Grand Prix driver, Riccardo Patrese, crossed new “unbelievable” frontiers when he tested Honda RA107 Formula 1 machine at Jerez de la Frontera on Wednesday. "It was a dream come true and unbelievable to rediscover the speed of a Formula One car again today," said Patrese. His record of 256 Grand Prix starts was surpassed last year by Rubens Barichello. Patrese was active in Formula 1 from 1977-1993. He made his debut with American-owned UOP-Shadow team, scored first of his six Formula 1 wins in the bizarre 1982 Monaco Grand Prix driving a Brabham. He was teammate to Nigel Mansell at Williams in 1992 when the Englishman earned his long awaited title. Patrese’s final win came in the same year in the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. The final race of his career was the 1993 Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide, driving a Benetton he was classified eighth.

Patrese is now involved in equestrian events in his native Italy and resides in Padua. For more information on his career please visit his website www.riccardopatrese.com
