Podcast number 344 special

Tony Brooks: One of the early giants of F1’s first decade is featured in our exclusive interview on podcast # 334. Brooks boarded a plane with his medical books en route to his first F1 event, the non-championship 1955 Syracuse Grand Prix and took his Connaught to victory over a fleet of six Maserati 250F’s. Carrol Shelby was sixth in this race.

Brooks shared the winning Vanwall with Stirling Moss at Aintree in the 1957 British Grand Prix, starting the British Racing Green revolution and domination of Grand Prix motor racing. He also scored GP victories in classic venues like the old 14.2-mile Nurburgring, Spa-Francorchamps and Monza.

Tony Brooks is regarded by many, including Mario Andretti and Stirling Moss, as one of the best drivers the sport has ever seen. He still maintains a keen interest in Formula 1 and lives with his Italian wife in Surrey.

A special F1weekly thank you to Tony Brooks for his time and our faithful listener Peter Brazier for making it possible.
