FELIX ROSENQVIST AHEAD OF TITLE CANDIDATES

Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport, 1:34.047 minutes) was fastest in qualifying of the Formula 3 Euro Series and will thus start the third race of the weekend from pole position. Title favourite Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam, 1:34.425 minutes) followed in second place. Pascal Wehrlein (Mücke Motorsport, 1:34.471 minutes), Juncadella’s main rival, ended up third at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, followed by the best-placed guest driver Alex Lynn (Fortec Motorsport, 1:34.551 minutes). In the ranking of the second-fastest laps, deciding on the starting grid positions for the first race of the weekend, Rosenqvist, Juncadella and Wehrlein locked out the first three places.

Felix Rosenqvist confirmed the good performance from today’s pre-event test and claimed first position in qualifying. He was followed by title candidates Daniel Juncadella and Pascal Wehrlein. Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam, 1:34.766 minutes), who also still has chances of winning the title, was eighth fastest, followed by the fourth title candidate William Buller (Carlin, 1:34.811 minutes). In the ranking of the second-fastest lap times, Ferrari-backed Italian Marciello was fourth.

The first race of the weekend can already decide the battle for the title. When Juncadella finishes ahead of his three remaining rivals Wehrlein, Marciello and Buller, the Spaniard will be the new Formula 3 Euro Series’ champion.

Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport): “The Valencia weekend was really good and here, I had a good feeling with my car as well. I wanted the two pole positions and that is what I got. In tomorrow’s race, one needs a good start and I have to try to maintain the lead on the opening lap. I hope for a win.”

Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam): “Qualifying was good, but I am a little bit surprised to be that much down on Felix. However, I am fastest of my team and I am happy with second place. With the second set of tyres, I only had two clear laps, which were, in fact, quite good. In the first race tomorrow, my only goal will be to finish ahead of my title rivals and thus wrap up the title.”
