Northbound 101

The Doctor, Valentino Rossi, holds yet another riding clinic. This time at Sachsenring in Germany. The patient, same as in the Catalunya Grand Prix in Barcelona last month, came close to passing (him). Rossi resisted all last lap gasps by his Fiat Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo, and recorded his 101st Grand Prix win. Margin of victory was 0.099s.

Rossi leads the championship with 176. Jorge Lorenzo is second with 162 points. Ducati rider and ex-world champion from Australia, Casey Stoner, is third with 148 points.

Donington Park in England will host the next round on July 26th.

Gary in a hurry

Gary Paffett powered his Mercedes to victory in the DTM race at the Dutch seaside track of Zandvoort. This was his second win of the season and puts him in the lead in the championship. The British driver won the DTM series in 2005.

Mattias Ekstrom of Sweden was second for Audi with another Audi driven by British driver and pole-sitter Oliver Jarvis third.

Dominating Diva

Swiss Miss Simona de Silvestro won the Formula Atlantic race at Lime Rock Park, CT. Starting from pole position Simona swept away to victory after leading each and every lap. Her fourth win in the series makes her the most successful lady driver in the 36-year history of Formula Atlantic. She leads the championship by 17 points over John Edwards and Jonathan Summerton; teammates at Newman Wachs Racing are tied in second place.
