AWARDS FOR RENAULT SPORT AND ROBERT CONSANI-

Renault Sport was among the winners at last week’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge 2012 Awards Ceremony, picking up the IRC 2WD Constructors’ Cup award. Also among the honours were Robert Consani and Nicolas Klinger, who were rewarded for their IRC Production Cup win and their second place in the IRC 2WD Cup.

Held in Paris last Thursday, the ceremony brought together the great and the good of the IRC family. In attendance were Renault Sport Technologies CEO Patrice Ratti and Renault Sport Technologies’ new Director of Motorsport Arnaud Boulanger, who were joined by Eurosport head Laurent-Eric Le Lay and Jean Todt, the President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Patrice Ratti was invited up to the stage to collect the impressive trophy recognising Renault Sport for its domination in the two-wheel drive category.

“This is a wonderful reward for all our teams, who have done a fantastic job in the last few years,” he said. “The motorsport/customer range has always been a core aspect of Renault Sport’s commitment to motorsport, especially in rally. During the 2012 season the Megane Renaultsport N4 has shown all its qualities on asphalt thanks to Robert Consani, and also to Francois Delecour, Manu Guigou, Kris Princen and a host of other drivers competing across Europe. The Twingo Renaultsport R2, Clio Renaultsport R3 and the Clio Super 1600 have also played a part in Renault Sport winning this latest international rally title, which further underlines the competitiveness our products and the follow up services we have provided over the years.”

Aside from the trophy awarded to Renault Sport, which will take pride of place at its base at Les Ulis, near Paris, Robert Consani and Nicolas Klinger also stepped up to collect accolades in two driver and co-driver categories.

With a haul of three wins and four podiums overall in their Megane Renaultsport N4, they made off the IRC Production Cup, which is open to crews driving N4 and R4 production cars.

The duo also collected a trophy for their second-place finish in the IRC 2WD Cup standings.
